| Ha Nguyen and her sister Thu Nguyen opened the Que Nha Vietnamese Restaurant in 2005. Que Nha is located in the University - Summit Neighborhood at 849 University Ave, Saint Paul. In 2011 they opened the IndoChin Vietnamese Restaurant, in the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood, which is located at 1702 Grand Ave, Saint Paul. Both restaurants are serving extensive menus of Traditional Vietnamese entrees and appetizers as well as innovative fusion dishes. The Indochin Restaurant serves a variety of beers and wines to compliment their dishes. Both restaurants have received high praise and compliments from food critics as well as equally complimentary reviews from their customers. |

Tasty and friendly neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant. So far I've eaten there 3 times and each time I've cleaned my plate. I have tried and enjoyed the Hot and Spicy Shrimp with Vegetables, the Curry Shrimp with Vegetables and the Vegetarian Spring Rolls. Last month, sisters Ha Tu and Thu Nguyen, owners of the Que Nha restaurant at 849 University Avenue in St. Paul, opened a new restaurant, Indochin, at the nearby location of 1702 Grand Avenue. The Asian American Press reports that the Indochin menu will initially be almost the same as Que Nha's, but, as a reflection of its name (from Indochina, the French name for Vietnam during its colonial days), it will expand to include dishes that demonstrate the French influence on Vietnamese fare.

Ordered the Pho Dac Biet with top round, tendon, tripe, flank and meatballs. The broth was complexly delicious, rich and not over powered by anise (hate overly anised Pho). Very generous with the meats, and of course all the usual Pho accompaniments were included. Bean sprouts, lime, jalepeno, thai basil, onion, etc. The Pho is as good if not better than any I have had in the cities and would definitely return. The Chicken Wings were also delicious. The Fish Balls were not to my liking however I'll chalk that up to personal preference and not the restaurants fault. The menu is pretty extensive and includes vegetarian options. Can't wait to go back and try some other things.

Meanwhile, now that Indochin is up and running on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, the folks who used to hang out at Que Nha on University Avenue won't have to worry about dealing with light rail construction. Sisters Ha and Thu Nguyen opened a second spot in the former Huong Sen near Macalester College. After finishing a much-needed makeover of the space, they're serving an abbreviated version of the menu at Que Nha, including the signature dishes — banh mi sandwiches, pho soups, congee and rice and noodle platters. Both the chicken and beef pho soups were excellent as were the egg roll salad (a delicious mix of rice noodles, lettuce and crunchy egg rolls) and the gigantic crispy rice flour crepe stuffed with grilled shrimp, barbecue pork, lettuce and fresh herbs.

ST. PAUL (February 22, 2011) – After six years of hard work making their first restaurant a success, the owners of Que Nha Vietnamese restaurant have now opened Indochin at 1702 Grand Avenuel, St. Paul, MN 55105.While ‘Que Nha’ means ‘My Homeland’ in Vietnamese, the name ‘Indochin’ comes from Indochina, the French name for Vietnam during the colonial period.“We chose the name to show the French influence on the Vietnamese, and that means that the food will be more of the French influence,” said Ha Tu, owner.

This is a true gem. I'm spoiled by amazing Vietnamese food where I live, and this would fit right in. We came here with a party of four and left stuffed. The pho is delicious, as was everything else we ordered (spring rolls, Vietnamese pancake that I can't pronounce or spell). As an added bonus the service was great. Only one person was working front of house, and she kept everyone in the room fed and looked after. Super friendly! Will be looking forward to going back on my next trip through town.

Restful and Delicious

The yellow walls, green plants and natural light make this a relaxing and attractive place to eat.
The food, fresh and tasty, is always good. Try the lemon grass hot and spicy tofu. It is a favorite.
Many good dishes (some unusual) and soups here. Taste away! You will be glad you tried this place.
Closed on Wed. There is also a sister restaurant called Indochine on Grand Avenue. Same Menu. More>http://twincities.citysearch.com/profile/43237644/saint_paul_mn/que_nha_

Eight out of ten restaurants I visit are disappointing. Demoralization is my stock in trade. But it is something I have grown so inured to that I can experience the pure joy of a great find. Such a gem is Que Nha, a clean, bright restaurant that serves some of the best Vietnamese food in the Cities.Que Nha offers something for everyone, from spring rolls to superb chili-spiked wok-tossed goat with slivered onions. With more than thirty meal-in-a-bowl soups available, Que Nha knows a thing or two about pho, mi, and hu tieu. The classic pho tai, a sturdy broth loaded with rice stick noodles and crowned with paper-thin shavings of raw beef, which cook as the dish makes its way from the kitchen to the table, is as good a barometer of quality as I can imagine—Que Nha’s is the local exemplar. Ditto hot and spicy chicken with lemongrass, a perfect balance of sweet, salty, sour, and spicy. Bun cha Ha Noi, grilled pork on cold rice noodles, is also superb, as are all the other bun I sampled. Those watching their waistlines will be thrilled with these clean and healthy grilled meat salads, and those watching their pocketbooks will find much to cheer about. Most menu offerings are between $5 and $8, and the $2.50 banh mi sandwiches in half a dozen styles are made to order on a spectacular, easy-to-eat, crusty roll and many local sub shops should take note.In many small ethnic eateries the hospitality and service quotient is low, but at Que Nha, owner Ha Nguyen is constantly patrolling the tables. She is fiercely proud of her restaurant and rightfully so. Que Nha should be high on everyone’s must-go-now list. It is simply a joy.

Que Nha EDITOR'S CHOICE This clean and crisp Vietnamese restaurant offers the best and most-varied Vietnamese menu in town. From bamboo-cooked rice to the ethereal pho, stir-fries and hot pots are all nicely turned out, and the spicy chicken with lemongrass is one of the best Asian dishes in town.

Great Lemongrass Chicken at Que Nha Went to Que Nha last week. I've read about their spicy lemongrass chicken but this is the first time I have been able to try it. Wow. I posted about liking the same dish at Pho 83 in Shakopee but this rendition at Que Nha takes it to a whole new level. Great flavors, great texture, perfectly carmelized pieces of meat. Also sampled my daughter's pho (meatball/sliced rare beef), flavor as good as I've had.
